Starter Unit 2 What’s this in English Step 1 Warm-up Play a simple English song to arouse the students’ interest. Step 2 Revision Review the alphabet and the important structure as ppt shows . Step 3 Presentation A : Introduce the most important words ruler, map, quilt, jacket, pen, key, orange and guide the students to pay attention to an orange . B : Present the new sentence pattern . What’s this in English ? It’s a ruler . Spell it ,Please. R-U-L-E-R C : To reinforce the pattern by asking the students to fill in the blanks as ppt shows . D : To reinforce the pattern by making dialogue in pairs according to the pictures in ppt . E : Ask the students to make similar dialogue in pairs by asking about things around them and the teacher may help them with the new words and write them on the blackboard to enlarge their vocabulary. F : Ask students to pay attention to the abbreviations P, NBA, KG, and encourage them to find more in their daily life . G : Open the book finish 1a-4, since we have solved the difficulties and important points we will pay special attention to listening . Step 4 :Section A 1) Listen and repeat (1a) 2) Look at the picture. Find the letters the students know. Then practice in pairs.(1b,1c) 3) Listen and number the pciture1-7. Listen again. Complete the words under the pictures. (4a.4b) 4) Pairwork and games. Step 5: Section B 1) Listening practice (1a, 1b) Listen to the conversation. Then practice in pairs. Listen again and number the words the students hear 2) Look and practice (2a, 2b) 3) Listening practice (3a) Listen and circle the letters they hear. 4) Do the exercise on ppt. Try to retell the content. Step 6 Selfcheck Check the letters,words and phrased they learned. Do the exercise on selfcheck. Step 7 Summary and homework Starter Unit 3 What color is it? Step l:Introduction (1) Do duty report.Ask students to take turns to do duty report (2) Hang the white paper on the blackboard,write the capital letter “A” with a red pen, then ask the students: T:What’s this in English? Ss:It’s an A. T:What color is it? The teacher answers herself:It’s red. (3) The teacher teaches the other colors with the color pens,repeat these words until students grasp them. Step 2:Lead—in Do the same steps of the letters list on l a as the teacher did in the introduction.Make sure students know an these letters and words. Step 3:Section A 1) Get students to work in pairs,practice the dialogue appear in the picture of 1a. Allow students use the other things instead of the letters while they are asking the colors. 2) Listening Do 1b,2a,2b and 2c in turn. 3) Pairwork Do the guess game.Ask students to work in pairs to practise like the following: T:Excuse me,what’s this in your bag? S:Is it a pen? T:Yes,you’re right.What color is it? S:It’s white. T:No,you’re wrong. S:Is it red? 4):Grammar Go through the grammar focus and make sure all the students know what means.If possible,the teacher can use Chinese to explain them. Step 4:Section B 1) Do the co1or changes game,use two small cups of water,color each cup of water yellow and blue.Ask:What color is it? It’s yellow. What color is it? It’s blue. After asking,pour the cup of yellow water into the other cup,when the water turns green. Ask students:What color is it now? Do the color changes with the other colors.Yellow + red =orange,yellow + red + black =brown, yellow +red +blue +black,etc. A1so the teacher can let students discuss what color the objects are around us such as the color of the traffic lights,letter—box,bananas and so on… 2) Listen and repeat List out the letter A 0n the blackboard and encourage the students to say out what other words also make the same pronunciation.Present the other letters the same as the letter. 4) Listen and repeat Listen the whole English alphabet and try to familiarize them. Step 6:Shelfcheck 1) Get students pay attention to all the abbreviations appear around us,copy them down, try to find what they mean.Then tell your partners.Encourage students to search online Check their own words and alphabet.
