　　appear用作連系動(dòng)詞，其意為“似乎”“好像”，其后的表語(yǔ)可以是：

　　■不定式

　　He appeared to be talking to himself. 他仿佛在跟自己講話。

　　She didn’t appear to know anything about it. 她似乎對(duì)此一無(wú)所知。

　　They appeared to be satisfied with the result. 他們似乎對(duì)結(jié)果感到滿意。

　　They aren’t as clever as they appear to be. 他們并不像他們看起來(lái)那樣聰明。

　　There appears to be little enthusiasm for your idea. 人們好像對(duì)你的想法不大熱心。

　　There seems to be something wrong here. 這兒好像有點(diǎn)不大對(duì)勁。

　　He appeared quite well. 他顯得身體相當(dāng)好。

　　He appears quite rich 他似乎相當(dāng)富有。

　　To compromise appears advisable. 看來(lái)以妥協(xié)為好。

　　■名詞

　　He didn’t want to appear a fool. 他不愿顯得像個(gè)傻瓜。

　　It appears a true story. 這似乎是一件真事。

　　■從句

　　It appears that he forgot to sign the letter. 他似乎忘記在信上署名了。

　　It appears (that) the plane did not land in Rome. 似乎飛機(jī)并未在羅馬著陸。
