布什獲封“語(yǔ)無(wú)倫次”獎(jiǎng)
近日， “2007年度最令人困惑的話語(yǔ)”名單出爐，美國(guó)總統(tǒng)布什獲封“語(yǔ)無(wú)倫次”獎(jiǎng)。
此次評(píng)選活動(dòng)由英國(guó)“簡(jiǎn)明英語(yǔ)運(yùn)動(dòng)”組織發(fā)起。今年拔得年度評(píng)選頭籌的是前英格蘭足球隊(duì)主教練史蒂夫麥克拉倫。他評(píng)價(jià)足球明星維恩魯尼時(shí)經(jīng)典話語(yǔ)——“他經(jīng)驗(yàn)不足，但若從他過(guò)去的經(jīng)歷來(lái)看，他還是有經(jīng)驗(yàn)的”——至今讓人忍俊不禁。
“屈居”亞軍的是美國(guó)總統(tǒng)布什。作為此項(xiàng)評(píng)選活動(dòng)的“常勝將軍”，布什本次獲獎(jiǎng)的話語(yǔ)是“我所能告訴你們的是，當(dāng)州長(zhǎng)打來(lái)電話時(shí)，我會(huì)接聽(tīng)”。這是他視察加州火災(zāi)災(zāi)區(qū)時(shí)留下的經(jīng)典笑料。為此，有人評(píng)價(jià)布什說(shuō)：“他每天都會(huì)‘語(yǔ)無(wú)倫次’，根本用不著給他評(píng)獎(jiǎng)。”
“簡(jiǎn)明英語(yǔ)運(yùn)動(dòng)”組織的“語(yǔ)無(wú)倫次”評(píng)選活動(dòng)始于1979年，拗口的用語(yǔ)、冗長(zhǎng)的廢話、含混不明的句子以及無(wú)用的官話都在該組織評(píng)選范圍內(nèi)。（沈珺）

O.K., we know that doesn#39;t make any sense. But after you read what#39;s coming next, that meaningless sentence may well sound like a sage bit of advice. A group in Britain that specializes in highlighting needless bureaucratese has come up with its list of the most baffling pronouncements of 2007.
The winner of the Plain English Campaign#39;s "Foot In Mouth" award for the year is an English soccer manager named Steve McClaren, who came up with this meaningless drivel when addressing star player Wayne Rooney. "He is inexperienced but he#39;s experienced in terms of what he#39;s been through."
Second on the list is a man you#39;d expect to be a regular contestant - and he is. George W. Bush earned the runner-up status for his baffling statement, "All I can tell you is that when the governor calls, I answer his phone."
Bush is a shoo-in for the prize every year, but those behind the campaign say he#39;s just too well qualified to win all the time. "We thought it was a bit obvious to honour Bush as he comes up with them every day," observes spokesman Ben Beer.
The contest began in 1979 and was spawned by a woman who didn#39;t learn to read until she was 14. But after coming across endless examples of bafflegab and meaningless phrases, she wasn#39;t sure that was a good idea.
